1. Background

I graduated at the TU Delft and specialized in Urbanism. After that I started as a project developer, that trade I learned in the USA. In the weekend I am a pilot.

2. Why are you fascinated with
architecture / urban development?

That is something you master in, in Delft. But ultimately it is so tangible that everyone has an opinion about it. I do love streets and squares more, let's say the open spaces, then buildings.

3. Best city

Boston, a bit of Amsterdam and a bit of New York and San Francisco. Surrounded by the most beautiful nature on a beautiful coast. And when winter is a real winter.

4. Most beautiful building

The Dutch Institute for Sound and Vision by Neutelings Riedijk Architects in the Media Park in Hilversum.

5. Most beautiful park or square

Square: Plaça de Catalunya in Barcelona.
Park: The Vondelpark in Amsterdam.

6. Best public facility /
urban infill

Centre Céramique in Maastricht, there the ideal symbiosis between initiator and architect has been found.

7. Best 20th and 21st century innovations

The computer and especially software programs like Word and Excel and of course the Internet. Now life is so much richer and I know and can do so much more.

8. Next groundbreaking innovation

Organic development or developing value in small steps.

9. About the future of cities

The City will again be the breeding ground for new collectives; this will determine the agenda and not the Byzantine Empire that is called the government.

10. Personal contribution to urban development

Redevelopment plans that include the Media Park, Arnhem Buiten (former Kema-Terrein), the Cartesiuskwartier in Utrecht and Molenberg in Heerlen. Devise new life for old areas with a very clear vision.

11. Guerrilla in the city?

Asking less for permission, just doing it and after that apologizing humbly.
